Cicely Carter was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. She is a plus size model, single mother to a preschool boy and blogger about all things parent, fashion and beauty related. She is also a second degree Nursing student, freelance makeup artist and entrepreneur. Modeling became a dream of hers about ten years ago, when reading Seventeen Magazine, there was an article on Mia Tyler. She is music superstar Steven Tyler’s younger daughter and at the time she was a size 16. This was an enlightening moment for Cicely and opened her eyes to the world of plus size modeling.
Fast forward to four years later, she graduated high school and was accepted into the City College of New York and her dreams set sail from there. She embarked on her adventure in the city as a southern girl with a big heart and bigger dreams. During her amazing five years of living, loving, creating, studying and growing in the city, she was able to accomplish so many things that fueled her desire to model and continue to propel her forward today. She began working in makeup and skincare and became a makeup artist. Cicely had amazing test shoots with great photographers and MUAs and also got to participate in the first Miss NYC Plus Modeling and Runway competition.
In 2009, her son Liam was born and she went on a self-imposed hiatus from modeling. Cicely still worked in beauty, but her main focus was raising her son and finishing her Bachelor’s degree, which she did in 2010. During this time she started a blog based on her adventures as a single parent and developed her own makeup services company.
Now, she has returned to one of the things she loves to do best with a new outlook on herself, this industry and life. She acknowledges that she wouldn’t have made it to this point without her faith in God and the support of friends and family who have been cheering on her modeling career since day one. When Cicely has wanted to give up or seems to be going through difficult times, God always puts someone, something or some type of good grace in her way.
2013 was a year of firsts for Cicely. She was published in the international magazine Volup2 and landed her first editorial campaign as the face of indie designer Liesl Binx's Fall/Winter 2014 debut line.
Cicely has been working hard on book development, so be on the lookout for new work this year!
